Rosaline Pearl - Meet MoP (Side Quest)

When she was first admitted into the court, Rosaline Pearl had to meet the Queen of Gentry. It was a brief introduction, a part of her initiation into the gentry rank. The queen, Mother of Pearl, had an aura to her that commanded respect. She was graceful, elegant, and beautiful, but she possessed a sense of strength much unlike a mere pearl such as Rosaline. In the shadow of her mask, her eyes seemed sharp and stern, but she spoke with an unexpected gentleness:
"I am here to give solace and guidance to any gem who requires it. If you're ever in need of a confidante, please don't hesitate to contact me."

Few days had passed before Rosaline took up the offer. She hovered timidly, leaving slight ripples in the water beneath her feet. The air was still as she searched for the words to begin. Eventually, Mother of Pearl turned to face her without prompt, and was also first to break the silence.
She expressed no surprise in Rosa's quick arrival, explaining that she could see sorrow in her eyes when they had first met. Under inquiry of Sard's whereabouts, Rosa told her that she was out training.
"She's... what I wanted to talk to you about. She's been through so much. She's been hurt, abandoned, betrayed. I've been her pearl for a long time, My Queen, and I know her better than any other gem. What she wants, what she needs, more than anything else, is to have something she can believe in. Sard is loyal. She needs to be. But after everythng she's been through, I don't know if she'll ever be able to trust Orange Diamond, or any of the court."
Rosaline detailed her experience of being shipwrecked with Sard for so long, how the realisation that their diamond had abandoned them wreaked havoc on Sard's psyche, the efforts she had made to console Sard, and how they had come to view each other more like equals over time. Then she went back to their brief time spent in Sunset Court so far.
"As far as Sard's concerned, Sunset Court has already let her down. When we were waiting in that false throne room, Sard was reliving all those feelings of abandonment and hopelessness. It was the cruelest thing the court could've done to her."
Mother of Pearl interjected. "And what of yourself? Has this all not hurt you, too?" This took Rosaline by surprise.
"O- Of course it has. I can handle it though. Sard is taking things a lot harder than I am, so my concern is for her."
"Rosaline Pearl. There is much love in your soul for others, but you need to leave some for yourself. You are your own gem in this court, whether you will it or not. Sard's feelings are not your responsibility and they never were. You both need to heal. Rest yourself, and encourage Sard to do the same. It will take time, I'm sad to say." Rosaline wanted desperately to argue, to say no, she was only Sard's pearl, that it was her sole duty to serve and care for Sard and Sard alone, but she couldn't.

Rosaline pearl left as quietly as she arrived. She returned to Sard just as she was finishing her training session. She never told her what had been discussed with the Queen of Gentry that day.
